My Favorite Tours in Costa Rica - Highlights of My Costa Rican Experiences
Greetings thrill seekers and eco-travelers, I’ve been guiding tours for years, and even after all this time, I still get excited for every single one. Costa Rica is full of surprises—whether it's spotting a rare animal, discovering a hidden waterfall, or hearing the jungle come alive at night. Some tours never get old, and I want to share my absolute favorites with you.
There’s something magical about stepping into the rainforest. The air is thick with the scent of nature, the sound of birds and monkeys fills the trees, and every turn of the trail brings a discovery.
One of my favorite stops on this tour is the Rio Celeste Waterfall—a bright blue cascade unlike anything else in the world. The color comes from volcanic minerals, and no matter how many times I visit, it still amazes me. This tour also includes a visit to a coffee farm, where you can learn about the history of Costa Rican coffee and taste some of the best brews around. Not just any coffee farm either. This is a personal favorite of mine because of Don Juan.
All three tours include a visit to the Don Juan's Coffee farm. This farm stands as a testament to the rich heritage and deep-rooted traditions of coffee cultivation. A patriarch hailing from five generations of esteemed coffee farmers, this family-owned estate embodies a legacy of passion, dedication, and sustainability. For over 93 years, Don Juan has overseen the cultivation of some of the finest coffee beans in the region. It doesn’t get more Costa Rican than that!

If you’re looking for more adventure, I also offer:
The Volcano & Rainforest Tour – A mix of rainforest beauty and volcanic landscapes, including hot springs and hanging bridges.
The Active Volcano Tour – A thrilling way to experience the power of Miravalles Volcano, complete with a jungle waterslide and horseback riding.
The Zipline & Hanging Bridges Tour – Perfect for those who want to soar above the trees and experience the jungle from new heights.
Whatever you choose, the rainforest always has something incredible to offer!
This tour is one of my favorites because it combines two things I love—wildlife and culture. We cruise down the Tempisque River, spotting crocodiles, monkeys, and exotic birds. The slow-moving river is perfect for getting up close to wildlife, and I always enjoy seeing how excited people get when they spot something special.
But what makes this tour unique is the cultural experience that follows. We visit a local town where you can see traditional pottery being made, try delicious homemade tortillas, and learn about the rich history of Costa Rican culture.
For something extra special, I also offer the Riverboat Rum & Cultural Tour, where we visit a small-batch rum distillery after the river cruise. You’ll learn about the process of making Costa Rican rum, sample different varieties, and even enjoy a cocktail crafted by the experts. It’s a great way to relax and experience the best of Guanacaste’s culture.

The rainforest is a completely different world at night, and I love introducing people to this incredible experience. As the sun sets, the jungle comes alive with sounds—frogs calling, insects buzzing, and nocturnal animals beginning their nightly routines. This tour makes everyone feel like a real explorer because you are! It’s an authentic experience that allows you the feel the heartbeat of the jungle.
With just a flashlight to guide us, we walk through the forest, spotting colorful frogs, sleeping birds, and even snakes resting in the trees. If we’re lucky, we might even see a glowing scorpion or a rare kinkajou moving through the branches. The sounds, the darkness, and the thrill of discovering the jungle’s hidden creatures make this one of the most immersive tours I offer. It’s an experience you won’t forget!

This is another favorite because it has a little bit of everything—adventure, nature, and awe. The hike to La Leona Waterfall is one of the most exciting in Costa Rica. We walk through crevices, wade through rivers, and finally reach this stunning waterfall tucked inside a canyon. It feels like stepping into another world. It’s just so beautiful and fun, that we always leave feeling refreshed and rejuvenated and you get to explore the truly beautiful secluded spots of the country.

I love so many of my tours. These are only a few of my favorites and I enjoy sharing them with people from all over the world. Each one offers something unique, whether it’s wildlife, waterfalls, culture, or adventure. If you have any questions or need help choosing the right tour, just reach out—I’d love to help you plan the perfect Costa Rican experience. I’m very proud to be Costa Rican and I enjoy sharing my country with newcomers. I don’t alter the natural environment and I try to make each tour an authentic experience.
